Hi, I'm Maggie.
I'm a mom of three — Theo (6), Birdie (3), and baby Sam (9 months) — and I've been writing The Honeycrumb since before Theo could walk. What started as a way to keep my own parents updated turned into a full-blown habit of documenting the stuff nobody warns you about: the gear that works, the money stuff nobody explains well, and the days that absolutely do not go as planned.
My husband, Pete, and I live outside Grand Rapids, Michigan, in a 1960s ranch we're slowly, chaotically renovating one toddler-proofed room at a time. Before kids, I worked in marketing for a regional grocery chain, which explains my unreasonable attachment to unit pricing and my habit of reading the fine print on every return policy I come across.
I started this blog in a hospital room, typing one-handed on my phone while Theo slept on my chest, because I needed somewhere to put the thoughts I didn't have anyone around to say out loud. Nine years and three kids later, it's become the place where I write through the hard parts, review the gear we've actually used (and sometimes sent back), and try to be honest about the parts of parenthood that don't photograph well.
What you'll find here
Mostly: real reviews of baby and toddler gear after we've lived with it for months, not days. Posts about the money conversations we put off for way too long — life insurance, budgeting for daycare, the stuff that isn't cute but matters. Home posts about keeping a house standing with small kids in it. And essays, when I need to write through something rather than around it.
I don't accept every sponsorship that lands in my inbox, and when I do link to something, it's because we bought it ourselves first. Some of those links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them — it never changes the price you pay, and it never changes what I'm willing to say about the product.
Say hello
